Clean cities
Global warming issue is becoming a threat to humanity. Solving the problem is becoming a must for all countries and individuals to reduce carbon dioxide in the environment. The world has been trying to reduce carbon dioxide by many means such as hybrid cars or clean cities.
SDJC is 11 Japanese companies that have come together to try to face the issue of global warming. SDJC has a new major project which is building a clean city which has green buildings, hybrid cars and less green house gas emissions. The city has a business zone, cultural zone and a residential zone. Carbon dioxide is reduced up to 30% in the residential towers whereas in the eco towers 50%.
Clean cities are one of the best solutions that technology has came up to in facing the issue of global warming. The clean city might expand in the future and cause clean countries to be established. The video was very beneficial to the viewer because it gave us a clear image of how the clean cities will be established.

European initiative

Since the establishment of the European Union 50years ago no strict rules or plans against global warming have been put in place.
The EU under the presidency of Germany has started to take the global issue of pollution into consideration. The EU which consists of 27 countries had put plans to be taken under consideration to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere by 20% by 2020.
The EU plans to use renewables such as water, air, tidal power and bio fuels to try to cut the 20% of the emissions. Other rules such as that every power station in Europe will have a carbon capture and storage system. This would allow emissions to be reduced and stored.
The EU also faces many challenges while trying to impose its plans. Renewable energy is very expensive and might be in some cases harmful to the environment. Wind farms disturb natural habitats. Tidal barriers form other barriers to natural flows of marine life. Mass plantation causes forests to become extinct.
Climate change is obvious and is a reality that has been manmade.

My carbon footprint at www.footprint.wwf.org.uk was 4.48.
Three ways that contribute most to greenhouse gases is:
a) Travel
b) Food
c) Home
The average class foot print was 3.87.
The carbon footprint is the total green house gases emissions caused by one person in a direct or indirect way. By measuring the carbon footprint, according to the result a plan can be put in place to reduce it.

My carbon footprint is one of the highest compared to my classmates and this is because I waste many things or buy things without any real need. Such as changing the mobile every 6 months.
Although I am thin I love to eat a lot. I eat five times a day. The fact that I am not a vegetarian also contributes to green house gases. Travelling every year for the summer holiday also contributes to green house gases. Travelling long distances should be reduced.
Having a high carbon footprint is a very bad thing to the earth. Reducing the carbon footprint is a must for everybody who has a high carbon footprint. Reducing the carbon footprint can be done by using a carbon diet. This is an internet site that can give you some advice that will reduce your carbon emissions.

An Inconvenient truth review

An inconvenient truth is a very useful movie in showing the impact of global warming on the planet.
James Berardinelli (http://www.reelviews.net/movies/i/inconvenient_truth.html)
Was negative in his review. The movie An Inconvenient Truth was more Gore than Global warming because of the little snippets of Gores private life in the movie. Al Gore is using the movie An Inconvenient Truth to make him a more popular person. The content of the movie An Inconvenient Truth is very compelling. The film doesn’t really provide any new information; it is just a recap of known facts. The movie is non-cinematic. That is because the movie is very long. In the movie Al Gore thinks that he’s on American idol. Despite the flaws and the familiarity of the material, the clarity of the presentation was amazing.
Eric Steig http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2006/05/al-gores-movie/
Was positive in his review. The movie was very beneficial to the audience because it educates the public about global warming. The movie also shows the impact of global warming on the planet. In the movie Al Gore tries to convince the U.S government to impose rules against carbon emissions.

My opinion of the movie:
An Inconvenient Truth is a very informational movie. Al Gore in his movie shows all the aspects of global warming. In the movie Al Gore used many power point slides to help explain his point of view and to show the audience real facts and graphs. As a whole the movie is very beneficial for the receiver and helps spread a lot of awareness against global warming.

Wanted: Natural Residents
Part 1
Sweden’s western Harbor is becoming the world’s first natural resident tower. The tower is built to promote sustainable urban living. The developments program is based on three phases. Phase 1 is to build Bo01 which is ready. 1300 newly occupied apartments are now following a list of 35 green features to choose from. Phase 2 is to build Bo02 then Bo03.
Phase 2 will not be started until mistakes and new lessons are learnt from phase 1. Annika Kruuse is an area ecologist. Annika monitors the progress of Bo01 plant and animal residents. New species moved in since Phase 1 was ready. Nine different seabirds have been recorded breeding in Bo01.
The Phase 1 is planned to be sold to people who are interested in living a green lifestyle. People in their 30s and 40s are the most interested in living a green life. New generations of children are made aware of global warming and ways to help decrease it. Living such a life also helps impose green points in the normal life.
Part 2
Developing a new 0 emission city.
Sweden’s new Plans have recorded success.
There are 3 Phases for the project.
New education outcomes have been put in place.
Part 3
The article about natural residents was very interesting. Much of the stated information was helpful. Information gained from reading the article helps me in making the earth a better place. The natural residents plan could be used in my country to help fight global warming and reduce emissions.
